Olive and Date Harvests Expected to be Favorable, Says Ministry Official
The olive and date harvests are expected to be favorable, according to Hichem Hachlaf, Chief of Staff to the Minister of Agriculture, Water Resources, and Fisheries, in a statement to the TAP agency.
On the sidelines of his participation in the anti-rabies vaccination campaign in Nabeul on Sunday, Hachlaf discussed the olive season, stating that all state services are mobilized to ensure a successful harvest and its valorization. He emphasized the central role that the Olive Oil Office and the Office of State Lands will play in this context.
Preparations for the Olive Harvest
Preparations for the season have focused on implementing important storage programs and providing subsidies to farmers in this area, as part of a rigorous management of abundance and a desire to maintain prices while ensuring the profitability of the season for farmers.
Date Harvest
Regarding the date harvest, the new season is being closely monitored, particularly with regard to mobilizing all necessary means for collecting, transporting, and storing the harvest, he noted.
Cereal Harvest Preparations
Concerning preparations for the cereal harvest season, the official stated that efforts are focused on consolidating the results of the previous season, which saw a harvest of around 12 million quintals of cereals, and doubling the quantities of selected seeds thanks to the efforts of various public and private structures.
According to him, "farmers will have no difficulty in obtaining seeds or fertilizers."
