Official Journal of the Tunisian Republic Publishes 2026 Finance Law
The Official Journal of the Tunisian Republic (JORT) published on Friday, in its issue 148, Law No. 17 of 2025, dated December 12, 2025, regarding the finance law for the year 2026.
Promulgation of the Finance Law
The President of the Republic promulgated the finance law after signing it, following its adoption by the Assembly of the People's Representatives and the National Council of Regions and Districts.
Adoption by Legislative Bodies
The Assembly of the People's Representatives adopted the entire draft finance law and state budget for 2026 on December 4. The Council of Regions and Districts, for its part, approved the entire text on the morning of December 7, 2025.
Transmission to the President
In accordance with Article 18 of the decree organizing the functioning of the Assembly, the 2026 finance law was transmitted to the President of the Republic as part of his constitutional prerogatives. The President of Parliament, Ibrahim Bouderbala, specified that the transmitted version is the one adopted by the members of the Assembly.
Joint Plenary Session
During the joint plenary closing session held on December 10 between the two legislative chambers, Bouderbala indicated that the joint committee formed in accordance with Article 1 of the 2024 law, which sat for three days, did not reach a consensus on a unified text concerning the disputed articles. The text was therefore submitted to the President of the Republic in accordance with his constitutional attributes.
