Memorandum of Understanding Signed for Management of "Kaizen Excellence Center"
A memorandum of understanding was signed on Monday in Tunis between the General Directorate of Innovation and Technological Development and the industrial technical centers under the Ministry of Industry, Mines, and Energy for the management of the "Kaizen Excellence Center".
On this occasion, the Minister of Industry, Mines, and Energy, Fatma Thabet Chiboub, paid tribute to the companies "LEONI Wiring Systems" and "SOPAL", which won the first and second Kaizen Africa 2025 awards in the category of large enterprises, respectively.
This ceremony was also an opportunity to present the report on the designation of Tunisia as a "Kaizen Excellence Center" during the Africa Kaizen 2025 Conference, held on October 27 and 28, 2025, in Johannesburg, South Africa. This distinction was awarded by the JICA (Japanese International Cooperation Agency) and the AUDA-NEPAD (African Union Development Agency).
It is worth noting that JICA has supported Tunisia in introducing Kaizen since 2006, with the launch of a study to define an action plan for improving quality and productivity in Tunisia. Based on the study's results, the first phase of the Kaizen technical cooperation project was implemented from 2009 to 2013, with the goal of developing the capacities of Tunisian institutions to improve quality and productivity within companies in the mechanical and electrical industries. The second phase of this project was implemented from 2016 to 2021. The third phase of the quality and productivity improvement project, commonly known as the Kaizen Project, covers the period from 2024 to 2028.
Since the launch of the program, technical assistance has been provided to over 200 industrial enterprises, in addition to training more than 130 experts and 54 trainers from subordinate structures.
