Tunisia Highways Company (STA) Announces Resumption of A1 North Highway Works

The Tunisia Highways Company (Société Tunisie Autoroutes – STA) has announced that construction work on the A1 North highway will resume Monday, 23 February 2026. The work will cover the section between kilometre 76 and kilometre 73, heading toward Tunis.

What Drivers Need to Know

  • Reduced lanes: During the entire construction period, the number of traffic lanes on this stretch will be temporarily reduced.
  • Adjust your speed: Drivers are asked to slow down as they approach the work zone.
  • Follow signage: Obey all temporary signs and road markings put in place for the project.
  • Stay alert and keep a safe distance: Maintaining a proper safety gap is essential to protect road users, workers, and on‑site personnel.

STA’s Apology and Objectives

STA apologises for any inconvenience caused by the works. The primary goals of the project are to:

  1. Upgrade the highway infrastructure
  2. Enhance safety for all users
  3. Improve driving comfort on the A1 corridor

These works are part of STA’s ongoing effort to modernise Tunisia’s motorway network and to ensure optimal traffic conditions for motorists.
