Tunisian Mining Transport Company Launches Strategic Investment Program

The Tunisian Mining Transport Company (STTPM) has announced the launch of a strategic investment program worth 20 million dinars, aimed at modernizing its vehicle fleet and increasing its phosphate transport capacity to 14 million tons per year.

Key Components of the Program

The program includes:

  • 6 modern loaders to improve handling
  • 6 heavy-duty trucks with a capacity of 55 tons to efficiently transport phosphate from mining sites
  • 10 trucks with a capacity of 30 tons, dedicated to shorter trips or areas with difficult access

Implementation and Impact

These new units are expected to enter service in the first quarter of 2026, thereby strengthening the logistical performance of STTPM and ensuring the regular transport of phosphate from the Gafsa mines to the processing plants and the Mdhilla Chemical Complex.

Strategic Importance

According to Makrem Saadeddine, General Manager of the company, this investment is crucial to meet the growing demand for phosphate and position STTPM as a key partner of the Gafsa Phosphate Company (CPG). Despite social and environmental challenges in the mining region, the management believes that this initiative is a strategic lever to improve productivity and open up new economic opportunities.

Alignment with National Objectives

This approach is also part of a five-year plan to increase national phosphate production to 14 million tons per year by 2030, with a focus on modernizing infrastructure and energy efficiency.
