National Guard Seizes Six Tons of Unfit Brined Olives and 2,000 L of Olive Oil

The National Guard’s units have confiscated six tonnes of brined olives unsuitable for consumption and 2,000 liters of olive oil that were discovered in an unregistered, chaotic warehouse located in the Ghezala delegation of the Bizerte governorate, a security source reported.

The operation was carried out by the Research and Investigation Brigade of the National Guard in Mateur after receiving intelligence about a premises being used for the illegal storage of food products under conditions that violated both commercial regulations and current health standards.

Following coordination with the public prosecutor’s office, law‑enforcement officers conducted a search of the site, uncovering large quantities of spoiled brined olives as well as 2,000 liters of olive oil stored in non‑compliant plastic drums that do not meet sanitary requirements.

The intervention was conducted in partnership with the regional trade authorities and the National Sanitary Security Agency, which confirmed the violations and ordered the seizure of the products.

A judicial report has been filed against the warehouse owner for operating an undeclared, anarchic unit dedicated to the manufacturing, storage, and packaging of canned goods and food products. Investigations remain ongoing to determine full responsibility and any possible extensions of this illegal activity.
