National Food Safety Agency Seizes Non-Conforming Food Products

The National Food Safety Agency of Sousse, in coordination with the municipal guard of Kalaâ Sghira, seized 5000 kg of non-conforming food products yesterday, October 9, at a cheese factory.

According to Belkacem Kadri, Regional Director of Sanitary Security in Sousse, the factory lacked self-control measures, the origin of raw materials was unknown, marketing authorization was non-existent, and storage conditions were unsanitary. Furthermore, no medical follow-up was provided for staff handling food products.

In another joint operation with trade services and municipal authorities, control teams also seized:

  • 635 kg of rotten dates
  • 300 kg of rotten onions
  • 45 kg of rotten tomatoes in cold storage rooms located in Zaouiet Sousse.

The seized goods were destroyed, pending the completion of legal procedures.
