Tunisian and Libyan Customs Reaffirm Commitment to Implementing Bilateral Free Trade Agreement

The Tunisian and Libyan customs authorities have reaffirmed their commitment to implementing the bilateral free trade agreement, particularly with regards to preferential origin certificates, following the work of the Tunisian-Libyan Mixed Customs Commission, held on May 20-21, 2026, in Tunis.
According to a statement released by the Tunisian Customs on Saturday, the two parties have also agreed to activate the twinning agreement in the field of training and strengthen the mechanism of periodic meetings between the responsible officials of the two customs administrations.
This cooperation aims to intensify coordination in the fight against smuggling and organized crime, while promoting the smooth flow of commercial exchanges between the two countries.
The discussions also covered several technical issues related to transit trade and road traffic.
