Minister of Health, Mustapha Ferjani, Announces Launch of National Biomedical Training Center
A Strategic Center for Africa
The Minister of Health, Mustapha Ferjani, announced the launch of a national biomedical training center (Biotraining) compliant with GMP standards, during the 4th edition of the World Bio Summit 2025 in Seoul, South Korea. This center aims to strengthen Africa's capabilities in the production of medicines and vaccines.
The center, a pioneer in the region, will provide training for highly qualified professionals in the biomedical sector, develop local skills, and enable Africa to reduce its dependence on imports of medicines and vaccines. Minister Ferjani specified that the center will be equipped according to international standards and will offer comprehensive theoretical and practical training for scientists, technicians, and researchers.
Artificial Intelligence and Digital Health
Ferjani also proposed strengthening international cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence applied to health, particularly for:
- Early disease detection
- Telemedicine
- Continuous training of doctors and researchers
- Development of innovative digital solutions to improve health services
The Minister emphasized that these initiatives will modernize the Tunisian and African health systems, while facilitating access to care in remote areas.
Age-Tech and Quality of Life for the Elderly
Inspired by Korea's experience in Age-Tech, Ferjani stressed the importance of developing innovative solutions to improve the quality of life for the elderly, a sector experiencing rapid growth worldwide.
Call for International Investment
The Minister invited international investors to support Tunisian projects in the health sector, ensuring that all citizens benefit from biomedical and technological advances. He recalled that Tunisia uses technology as a lever to ensure health justice and improve the quality of care services.
Towards a Tunisia Leading in Biomedical Health in Africa
According to Ferjani, this center is a key step in positioning Tunisia as an African hub for biomedical training and innovation, capable of meeting regional health needs and strengthening the continent's competitiveness in the global market for medicines and vaccines.
