Tunisian Ambassador to Japan Meets with Prominent LDP Member

The Tunisian Ambassador to Japan, Ahmed Chafra, met with Takuya Hirai, a prominent member of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and former Minister of Digital Transformation, on Wednesday in Tokyo.

According to the Embassy's official Facebook page, the meeting, held at the Japanese Parliament headquarters, comes in anticipation of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, which were established in 1956.

During the meeting at the Japanese Parliament, both parties reaffirmed the solidity of the friendly ties between the two countries and agreed to strengthen their cooperation in the areas of digitalization, innovation, and support for Tunisian start-ups. Particular emphasis was placed on promoting Tunisian exports to Japan, with special attention paid to Tunisian olive oil.

The two interlocutors explored avenues for targeted cooperation with the Kagawa prefecture, Takuya Hirai's hometown and the location of Shodoshima Island, renowned for its olive groves and considered Japan's main olive production center.
