Tunisian-Italian Days Dedicated to Archaeological Heritage Conservation and Valorization Come to a Close

The Tunisian-Italian Days, a series of events dedicated to the conservation and valorization of archaeological heritage, concluded on Tuesday, marking a new milestone in the cooperation between Tunisia and Italy. Organized with the participation of several institutions from both countries, the event highlighted a renewed approach that combines culture, research, and economic development.

The event was inaugurated by Tarek Baccouche, Director-General of the National Institute of Heritage (INP), and Alessandro Prunas, Italian Ambassador to Tunisia. It was closed by Alfonsina Russo, responsible for cultural heritage valorization at the Italian Ministry of Culture. The event brought together institutional actors, experts, and businesses around a common goal: strengthening cooperation in the field of archaeological heritage.

For the first time, this initiative integrated an economic dimension, in addition to academic and cultural exchanges. Alongside project presentations and joint missions, which confirm Italy's status as Tunisia's primary archaeological partner, a business forum and B2B meetings were organized. These exchanges allowed Tunisian and Italian companies specializing in heritage restoration and valorization to connect.

This dynamic is part of a broader vision aimed at making heritage a driver of development. By combining scientific expertise, technical know-how, and economic opportunities, the two countries aim to enhance the international visibility of Tunisia's rich cultural heritage.

Inspired by the spirit of the Mattei Plan, this cooperation illustrates a shared willingness to build an integrated model where culture becomes a vector of growth and sustainable partnership. Through this initiative, Tunisia and Italy reaffirm their commitment to preserving, valorizing, and promoting an exceptional historical heritage, while opening up new perspectives for economic actors in the sector.
