Tunisia and Italy Strengthen Cooperation in Automotive Sector

Tunisia and Italy have agreed to enhance their cooperation in the automotive sector through a series of economic initiatives and investment exchanges, following a working session held on May 7, 2026, in Rome between the Tunisian Embassy and the Italian National Association of the Automotive Industry (ANFIA).

The meeting, led by the Chargé d'Affaires ad interim of the Tunisian Embassy in Italy, Mohamed Hédi Cheikhawi, with the ANFIA Director General, laid the groundwork for an expanded partnership between the two parties in a sector considered strategic for both economies.

The two parties have agreed on the institutional participation of ANFIA in the Tunisian-Italian Business Forum and the Investment Forum in Tunisia, scheduled for June 24-26, 2026, in Tunis. ANFIA members will also be invited to participate in these economic events, presented as a privileged platform for direct meetings between Tunisian and Italian operators and the development of new partnership opportunities.

The meeting also allowed for the examination of cooperation prospects between the Tunisian Embassy and ANFIA to launch joint initiatives promoting investment opportunities and commercial exchanges in the automotive industry.

Within this framework, it was decided to work in partnership with the Italian Centre for Export Promotion (CEPEX) to organize a mission of Tunisian businesspeople in the Piedmont region, one of Italy's main automotive industrial hubs. This mission will include the organization of an economic day dedicated to presenting Tunisia's potential in the sector, as well as bilateral business meetings (BtoB) between companies from both countries.
