The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Tunisians Abroad, Mohamed Ali Nafti, announced that an agreement has been reached to activate mechanisms to strengthen cooperation and prepare for the upcoming Tunisian-Iranian joint commission meeting. This announcement was made during a press conference following a working session with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, held on Wednesday in Tunis.

Solidarity and Cooperation

Nafti stated that the meeting was an opportunity to reaffirm Tunisia's solidarity and support for Iran in the face of any threats, as well as its commitment to the Arab-Islamic region. The two delegations reviewed existing cooperation between Tunisia and Iran in various economic, commercial, medical, and vital sectors.

High-Level Meetings

The minister noted that the meeting between Araghchi and Tunisian President Kaïs Saïed was an opportunity to reaffirm the excellence of Tunisian-Iranian relations and the importance of their development. The discussions also touched on recent regional developments and the results of talks with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Regional Developments

Nafti welcomed the resumption of cooperation between Iran and the IAEA, believing it would help reduce tensions in the region, open new perspectives for containing crises, and consecrate dialogue and diplomacy as a means to find appropriate solutions.

Palestinian Cause

The meeting also addressed the importance of concerted efforts to encourage the international community to assume its responsibilities in protecting the Palestinian people and addressing attempts to forcibly displace them and undermine the Palestinian cause.

Iranian Perspective

For his part, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that relations between Iran and Tunisia have always been good, fraternal, and solid, and have developed further in recent years. He emphasized that his visit was an opportunity for consultations on bilateral relations, particularly during his lengthy meeting with President Saïed and detailed discussions with Minister Nafti.

Future Prospects

Araghchi expressed hope for continued meetings and consultations between officials from both countries, highlighting the existence of a common will to develop relations, particularly in commercial, tourist, medical, scientific, and cultural fields. He announced that an agreement has been reached to hold the economic joint commission meeting between the two countries in the near future and extended an invitation to Nafti to visit Tehran soon.

Regional Convergence

Regarding regional developments, the Iranian minister stated that Iran and Tunisia share convergent positions and have discussed these issues, including the Palestinian cause, the Gaza genocide, and aggression against regional countries. He reaffirmed the two countries' support for the Palestinian cause and the legitimate right of the Palestinian people, emphasizing the need for Islamic countries to unite their efforts and take concrete measures to end the occupation's crimes and counter its attempts to displace the population of Gaza and the West Bank.

Condemning Aggression

Araghchi condemned the Zionist aggression against Qatar, stressing that it demonstrates that no country in the region is immune to the occupier's attacks and threats.
