Inauguration of Industry 4.0 Laboratory in Tunisia
A laboratory dedicated to the fourth industrial revolution (Industry 4.0) was recently inaugurated at the Sectoral Training Center in Electronics in Sakiet Ezzit, in the governorate of Sfax. This initiative aims to support the digital industrial transformation and strengthen the professional training system in Tunisia.
Objectives and Features
The project offers young people and women skills adapted to the jobs of tomorrow, by linking training and the job market through:
- An initial and continuous training program
- A digital fabrication laboratory (Fab Lab)
- A project incubator for young people
- Services for industrial companies The project is based on a sustainable economic model, capable of covering the majority of its costs in the medium term.
International Partnership
According to the Tunisian office of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), this laboratory is part of the Industry 4.0 project for youth employment, implemented with the support of the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development, in partnership with the Tunisian Ministries of Industry and Employment.
Statement from UNIDO Representative
Asaad Ben Houssen, UNIDO representative in Tunisia, stated that the laboratory "represents more than an infrastructure: it is a strategic lever contributing to the objectives of sustainable development, by supporting decent employment and economic growth, encouraging sustainable industrialization and innovation, and strengthening partnerships".
Successful Cooperation Model
This project illustrates a successful model of triangular cooperation between Tunisia, Germany, and UNIDO, and is aligned with the industrial and innovation strategy 2035 as well as the development plan 2026-2030, strengthening Tunisia's position as a major regional destination for industrial training and innovation.
Inauguration Ceremony
The inauguration ceremony brought together Joseph Renggli, Swiss Ambassador to Tunisia, Mourad Slawi, President of the Training Support Unit of the Tunisian Union of Industry, Trade and Crafts, Mounir Dkhili, Director General of International Cooperation at the Ministry of Employment and Professional Training, and Elias Cherif, Head of the Management of the Tunisian Agency for Professional Training.
