Eight Food Poisoning Cases Reported in Sfax After Consumption of Local Candy Products

According to Mohamed Rabhi, the president of the National Food Safety Security Instance, eight cases of food poisoning have been recorded in the Sfax governorate following the consumption of candies from a local retail outlet.

Speaking on Diwan FM on Thursday, Rabhi stated that control teams were dispatched to the scene. Inspections revealed several irregularities in terms of manufacturing conditions and hygiene standards.

As a result of these findings, the decision was made to immediately close the affected business, Rabhi added, noting that investigations are ongoing to determine responsibilities and take the necessary measures as per the law.

Rabhi also mentioned that the National Food Safety Security Instance has identified six food poisoning hotspots nationwide since the beginning of the year, with two of them located in the Sfax governorate.
