Tunisie Autoroutes Announces Plans for New Service Areas and Rest Stops on A1 Highway
By the end of 2026, Tunisie Autoroutes, in collaboration with AGIL, plans to complete new service areas and rest stops on the A1 highway (South Highway). According to a press release issued on Thursday, May 7, 2026, these developments will focus on two main stations: Ghriba station, located at kilometer 296 in the direction of Gabès, and Sidi Makhlouf station, at kilometer 453 in the direction of Tunis, near Regueb.
Improving Services and User Experience
Tunisie Autoroutes aims to accelerate the implementation of these projects to enhance the quality of services offered and ensure greater comfort and safety for highway users.
Current Developments on the Gabès-Ras Jedir Section
Tunisie Autoroutes has also announced that the section connecting Gabès to Ras Jedir is now open to traffic. Services on this section are being provided continuously, including:
- Security patrols
- Maintenance of safety barriers
- Cleaning and planting operations
- Environmental protection and debris removal following accidents
