Tunisia Strengthens Strategic Cooperation in the Health Sector with the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia

Tunisia's Minister of Health, Dr. Mustapha Ferjani, held a bilateral meeting with his Ethiopian counterpart on Friday, February 13, 2026. The discussions allowed for the reaffirmation of the solidity of the historical relations between the two countries and the agreement on strengthening health cooperation through operational projects, particularly in the pharmaceutical industries, local production of medicines, and export to African markets.

The two parties also emphasized the importance of developing a partnership in digital health, including patient care pathways, expertise exchange around digital hospitals, and technological innovation. To this effect, it was decided to establish a joint technical commission to develop a clear roadmap based on defined priorities.

In the same context, the Minister of Health met with the Director-General of the African Medicines Agency. On this occasion, he presented Tunisia's experience in the production of medicines, highlighting the quality of national production and compliance with international standards. He also presented an initiative to create an African hub for training in pharmacy and pharmaceutical industries, benefiting African executives, particularly in the fields of production and control.

The two parties agreed to initiate the necessary procedures for the signing of a memorandum of understanding focused on training and the development of the pharmaceutical industry, with the objective of sustainably strengthening African health systems.
