Tunisia Joins Egypt, Gambia, and Tanzania as Leaders in Africa's Hotel Sector Growth
Tunisia has joined Egypt, Gambia, and Tanzania at the forefront of hotel sector growth in Africa, a surge that has led to a thriving tourism industry on the continent thanks to new infrastructure and high-quality travel offerings.
According to a report published by Travel and Tourism Worldwide (TTW) magazine, this hotel development is reshaping the future of tourism in Africa. These countries are leading the rapid expansion of the hotel sector on the continent by opening new hotels, modernizing existing complexes, and providing luxury hospitality services to meet the growing global demand.
TTW is a digital platform specializing in travel, tourism, airlines, cruises, technology, and hospitality. The magazine adds that new desert hotel complexes, seaside hotels, and luxury services are strengthening tourist growth, making Africa one of the most dynamic and rapidly growing tourist regions in the world.
Africa's Renewed Confidence on the Global Tourism Scene
Africa is asserting its position with renewed confidence on the global tourism scene, becoming one of the fastest-growing destinations for tourists seeking culture, nature, and immersive experiences. Travelers are increasingly drawn to Africa's rich and diverse heritage, exceptional landscapes, and evolving hotel sector, which combines grandeur and luxury.
This is why the international travel and tourism group TUI is working to develop tourism in Africa by opening seven new hotels. The magazine considered Tunisia as the hub of an exceptional desert hotel complex, referring to the western part of Tunisia, where hotels are located on the outskirts of the desert in Tozeur. This region is renowned for its lush palm groves, picturesque desert landscapes, and traditional architecture, making it an ideal destination for travelers seeking tranquility and authenticity.
Tunisia's Flourishing Tourism Sector
The global magazine had already ranked Tunisia in January as one of the countries with a thriving tourism sector, joining Spain, Mexico, Brazil, Greece, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Costa Rica. It is worth noting that the tourism sector in Tunisia has recorded record numbers in terms of arrivals and revenue. The number of tourists increased by 9.2% to reach 9 million 57 thousand tourists as of October 20, 2025, according to statistics from the National Tourism Office (ONTT).
The relevant authorities in Tunisia are working to achieve the goal of attracting 11 million tourists by focusing on the quality and diversification of products, with an orientation towards cultural, ecological, sports, and wellness tourism, according to the ONTT.
