Dr. Majed Zemni Awarded the Nelson Mandela Prize by the World Health Organization

The National Council of the Order of Physicians announced on Tuesday that Dr. Majed Zemni has been distinguished by the World Health Organization (WHO), which awarded him the Nelson Mandela Prize for promoting health in 2025. The award ceremony took place in Geneva, on the sidelines of the 78th World Health Assembly. Established in 1993, the Nelson Mandela Prize rewards one or two individuals or institutions each year for their exceptional contribution to promoting public health, human dignity, and social equity. It is named after the late South African president, a global symbol of justice and humanism.

Biography of Dr. Majed Zemni

Former head of the forensic medicine department at Farhat Hached University Hospital in Sousse, Dr. Zemni is also the president of the National Office for the Family and Population (ONFP). He has led several training programs in reproductive health, medical ethics, and professional responsibility, making the ONFP a WHO collaborating center.
