New Bizerte Bridge Project Progressing at a Steady Pace

The new Bizerte bridge project is advancing at a steady pace and is expected to be operational by mid-2027, announced Wan Li, the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Tunisia, on Friday. In an interview with the Tunisian News Agency (TAP), the diplomat specified that approximately 14% of the foundation construction work has already been completed, adding that the next step will be to finalize the foundations and underwater infrastructure. The project, awarded to the Chinese company Sichuan Road and Bridge following an international tender, is being carried out in close coordination with Tunisian authorities to ensure its completion within the scheduled timeframe, namely the second half of 2027. Wan Li recalled that the piling work officially started in July last year. He also indicated that several shipments of materials and equipment arrived in Tunisia during September and October, before being transported to the project site. The Bizerte bridge, he emphasized, is one of Tunisia's most emblematic infrastructure projects and a model of international cooperation. Its implementation involves highly qualified Tunisian skills, supported by foreign experts.
