Tunisia Promotes Medical Tourism and Wellness at Arab-Turkish Economic Cooperation Forum

The Tunisian Embassy in Ankara organized a meeting on medical tourism and wellness in Tunisia on Wednesday, October 16, in Istanbul, under the theme "Tunisian-Turkish Cooperation in Medical Tourism and Wellness." The event took place on the sidelines of the Arab-Turkish Economic Cooperation Forum, held from October 14 to 17, 2025.

According to a statement published on the Tunisia InfoHub platform of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Tunisians Abroad, this initiative aims to strengthen economic and investment relations between Tunisia and Turkey and promote win-win partnerships between the two countries.

The event brought together several Turkish and Arab businessmen, representatives of the private sector, health professionals, experts, and associative actors, providing a unique opportunity to promote Tunisia as a reference destination for medical tourism and wellness.

Tunisian Delegation Presents the Country's Advantages

The Tunisian delegation, led by Ambassador Ahmed Ben Sghaier, included Bchira Rhaim, Director General of Health Service Export and Investment Support at the Ministry of Health, and Chahnez Guizani, Director General of the National Office of Thermalism and Hydrotherapy. The delegation presented a report highlighting Tunisia's strengths and achievements in this field, which have enabled the country to position itself among the most competitive regional and international destinations.

The speakers emphasized that these achievements are based on the competence of the Tunisian medical corps, the modernity of hospital and thermal infrastructures, competitive prices, and Tunisia's strategic geographical position, enriched by its cultural heritage and diverse landscapes.

Promoting Tunisia's Health Sector

Participants also watched a promotional video showcasing Tunisia's health sector, services for foreign patients, and images of the country's thalassotherapy centers.

Turkish Officials Express Interest in Cooperation

Bulent Akarcali, former Turkish Minister of Health and Tourism, and Dr. Aysun Bay, President of the Turkish Medical Tourism Association, highlighted the importance of strengthening Tunisian-Turkish cooperation in this promising sector, in light of the successful experiences of both countries. They expressed their willingness to establish partnership networks with Tunisian actors and participate in sectoral events organized on both sides.

Exhibition and Investment Opportunities

An exhibition was also organized on this occasion, featuring a stand dedicated to medical tourism and wellness in Tunisia, equipped with a projection screen, brochures, visual supports, and documents on upcoming investment projects.
