Tunisia and South Korea Strengthen Bilateral Relations and Cooperation
On Monday, May 18, 2026, Tunisian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Tunisians Abroad, Mr. Mohamed Ali Nafti, received Mr. Lee Tae-Won, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Tunisia.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Minister highlighted the distinguished level of friendship, cooperation, and partnership between Tunisia and the Republic of Korea in various fields, particularly in high-value-added sectors such as digital health, automotive components, electronic governance, communication technologies, and digital services. He emphasized the central role played by the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) in the success and development of this cooperation, as well as the expansion of its perspectives.
The Minister also stressed the importance of the upcoming Korea-Africa Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Seoul on June 1, 2026, and the potential of triangular cooperation between Tunisia, Korea, and Africa. He highlighted opportunities to expand and diversify Korean investments in Tunisia.
From his side, the Ambassador praised the quality of bilateral relations and reaffirmed his commitment to working towards the development and expansion of bilateral cooperation areas, particularly in the context of the upcoming 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in the coming years. He also mentioned promising prospects for the development of joint investments and the strengthening of commercial exchanges, in light of ongoing discussions regarding a Korean company's intention to import significant quantities of Tunisian olive oil and other food products.
