Meeting Between Tunisian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Sierra Leonean Ambassador
Strengthening Diplomatic Relations and Cooperation
M. Mohamed Ali Nafti, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Tunisians Abroad, received M. Sadiq Sillah, Ambassador of the Republic of Sierra Leone to Tunis, resident in Cairo, on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at the Ministry's headquarters. The Ambassador is on a working visit to Tunisia from November 17 to 20.
At the beginning of the meeting, Minister Nafti expressed satisfaction with the state of diplomatic relations between Tunisia and Sierra Leone, which date back to 1979. He emphasized the Tunisian side's desire to strengthen cooperation between the two countries based on mutual interest and benefits, responding to the aspirations of the peoples of both countries.
In this context, he called for enriching the legal framework of cooperation between the two countries, highlighting the Tunisian side's willingness to hold the first session of Political Consultations between the two countries. This will provide an opportunity to discuss and explore opportunities and possibilities for cooperation between Tunisia and Sierra Leone in economic, commercial, academic, and cultural fields. Minister Nafti stressed the importance for both countries to benefit from the preferential advantages of their membership in the African Continental Free Trade Area (ZLECA), which will enable the development of trade exchanges between them.
For his part, the Sierra Leonean Ambassador expressed his country's firm willingness to develop trade exchanges with Tunisia, emphasizing the importation of olive oil from Tunisia and a number of Sierra Leonean products. He also highlighted the desire to benefit from Tunisia's leading experience and expertise at the African level to develop the capacities of his country's officials in the fields of health, higher education, vocational training, and tourism. Additionally, he emphasized his country's aspiration to draw inspiration from Tunisia's experience in the field of economic diplomacy.
