Minister of Religious Affairs Ahmed Bouhali Visits Algeria

The Minister of Religious Affairs, Ahmed Bouhali, made a working visit to Algeria at the invitation of his counterpart, Youssef Belmahdi, to participate in the 17th International Forum on the Maliki School, held in the wilaya of Aïn Defla. The forum focused on the theme: "The Zakat System: Civilizational and Developmental Dimensions in the Face of Contemporary Challenges".

Key Highlights of the Visit

During his speech, Bouhali emphasized that Tunisia and Algeria share the same traditions and refer to the same madhhab chosen by their ancestors since the time of Imam Malik ibn Anas. He recalled the contributions of scholars such as Abdallah ibn al-Ghanem al-Qayrawani, Imam Ali ibn Ziyad, Bahlool ibn Rashid, and Asad ibn al-Furat, who played a key role in spreading the Maliki school.

Characteristics of the Maliki School

The Minister highlighted the characteristics of Maliki jurisprudence, marked by the personality of the Imam, the richness of its foundations, and its ability to respond to new social and legal situations. He also emphasized the flexibility of this school, founded on 17 principles, its realism, and its approach centered on the objectives of the Sharia, allowing it to adapt to the evolution of human life.

Strengthening Cooperation between Tunisia and Algeria

Furthermore, Ahmed Bouhali was received by the Algerian Minister of Religious Affairs to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation and coordination between the two countries in the religious field.

Inauguration of a Manuscript Exhibition

The Tunisian Minister also participated in the inauguration of a manuscript exhibition organized on the occasion of the forum at the Prince Abdelkader Cultural Center in Aïn Defla, alongside his Algerian counterpart.
