Meeting Between Tunisian Minister and French Development Agency Director
A working meeting was held on Thursday afternoon between the Tunisian Minister of Industry, Mines, and Energy, Ms. Fatma Thabet Chiboub, and Mr. Philippe Orliange, Executive Director of the French Development Agency (AFD), in the presence of the French Ambassador to Tunisia, Ms. Anne Guéguen. This meeting, which took place at the ministry's headquarters, aimed to review ongoing projects and strengthen the strategic partnership between the two parties. The discussions focused primarily on cooperation programs in key sectors such as energy, mining, and industry. The officials examined the progress of ongoing projects and explored ways to accelerate their implementation, while emphasizing the need to respect the agreed-upon schedules to achieve economic development objectives. Among the flagship projects discussed was the deployment of the intelligent electrical grid "Smart Grid" carried by the STEG, presented as a crucial lever for modernizing national energy infrastructure. The exchanges also highlighted opportunities for future collaboration in areas such as technological innovation, energy transition, and industrialization. The Minister stressed the importance of this cooperation and called for increased mobilization to ensure the rapid and effective implementation of ongoing projects. For his part, Mr. Orliange reaffirmed the AFD's commitment to supporting Tunisia in its development priorities, particularly in energy transition and strengthening industrial capacities.
