Tunisia Experiences Remarkable Tourist Revival, Becoming a Top Destination for Europeans and Americans
According to a report published today by the specialized website Travel and Tour World, the country has recorded an influx of 5.3 million visitors until mid-July 2025, representing a nearly 10% increase compared to the previous year. Forecasts announce a total of 11 million tourists by the end of the year. This dynamic is accompanied by an increase in tourist revenues, reaching 3.9 billion dinars in the first half of 2025, up 8.2% from 2024.
Revival of the British Market
The British market, severely affected after the 2015 attacks, is experiencing a significant recovery. The number of British tourists increased by 48% in the first half of 2025, thus returning to pre-2015 levels. The pleasant temperatures, around 20°C until November, and destinations like Hammamet, Sousse, and the island of Djerba, are attracting more and more visitors. The latter is compared to Greek islands such as Mykonos and Santorin, thanks to its white architecture and affordable prices.
Cultural and Cinematographic Attractions
The Tunisian capital, with its medina and Roman mosaics, as well as the picturesque neighborhood of Sidi Bou Saïd, continue to attract travelers. The southern part of the country, particularly Tataouine and the city of Tataouine on Djerba, benefits from international notoriety thanks to their use as backdrops in the Star Wars saga. Moreover, Tunisia is focusing on sustainable and community-based tourism, supported by government initiatives and improved security measures. These efforts have enabled the country to join the ranks of destinations such as Mexico, China, Egypt, and Kazakhstan in the global tourism recovery race. This revival testifies to the resilience of the Tunisian tourism sector and its potential to attract a diverse international clientele.
