National Initiative to Promote Renewable Energy
As part of the energy transition and the development of renewable energies, the National Agency for Energy Management (ANME) has announced the launch of an innovative national project to offer free photovoltaic solar power plants to families with low electricity consumption. The program specifically targets subscribers whose annual consumption does not exceed 1200 kWh.
Objectives of the Initiative
The objective of this initiative is twofold:
- Reduce the electricity bills of low-income households
- Promote the use of clean energy By producing part of their electricity through solar energy, families benefit from a direct gain in their purchasing power and contribute to reducing carbon emissions.
Strategy and Deployment
According to Fathi Hamad, Regional Director of ANME for the Sahel, this project is part of the national energy management strategy, aiming to reduce dependence on conventional energy sources and strengthen sustainable development, particularly in densely populated areas or areas with low energy consumption. The program will be deployed in several phases, from the selection of beneficiaries based on rigorous technical and social criteria, to the installation and connection of solar equipment to the electrical grid, with technical support and awareness-raising actions to ensure optimal and sustainable use.
Expected Outcomes
The ANME hopes that this project will mark a turning point in the generalization of renewable energies in Tunisian households, supporting Tunisia's ambition towards a more efficient green economy and sustainable energy autonomy. Read also: Tunisia, second in Africa for energy transition
