Tunisia Braces for Above-Average Temperatures in May-June-July 2026, Says National Meteorological Institute
The National Meteorological Institute (INM) has announced that above-average temperatures are expected across the country for the May-June-July 2026 period.
Seasonal Temperature Normals
According to the INM's seasonal forecast bulletin, released on Friday, temperature normals for the region range from 22°C to 27°C in the north and center, and from 25°C to 30°C in the south. The warmest temperature normals are observed in the south at the Tozeur station.
Precipitation Outlook
The INM notes that seasonal precipitation models do not indicate any dominant signal for rainfall. In Tunisia, the May-June-July period marks a transition between spring and full summer, characterized by a gradual decrease in precipitation and increasingly hot and dry conditions.
Regional Precipitation Normals
Precipitation normals vary significantly across regions. In the north, they range from 31 mm in Nabeul to 77 mm in the Kef. In the center, totals range from 26 mm in Mahdia to 74 mm in Thala. In the south, precipitation remains relatively low, with values ranging from 7 mm in Remada to 44 mm in Sidi Bouzid.
