158 New Buses Arrive in Tunisia from China – Second Batch Delivered
Date: Friday, 27 February 2026
Location: Port of La Goulette, Tunisia
A fresh shipment of 158 brand‑new buses has docked at the Port of La Goulette, coming directly from the People’s Republic of China. The delivery is part of the international contract for the acquisition of 461 new buses to modernize Tunisia’s public‑transport fleet.
Allocation of the new vehicles
| Destination | Number of Buses |
|---|---|
| Regional transport companies (several) | 110 |
| National Inter‑City Transport Company (SNTI) | 48 |
This is the second lot under the agreement. The first lot, consisting of 134 buses, was handed over on 7 February 2026. Together, the two deliveries bring the total number of newly imported buses to 258, moving the country closer to its goal of a fully modernized, efficient public‑transport network across all regions.
Why the upgrade matters
- Enhanced mobility: New, low‑emission buses will improve connectivity in both urban and inter‑city routes.
- Environmental impact: Modern Chinese‑built buses meet stricter Euro‑VI emission standards, supporting Tunisia’s climate commitments.
- Economic boost: The project creates jobs in maintenance, operations, and ancillary services, while strengthening Tunisia‑China trade ties.
