Strengthening Tunisian-Saudi Cooperation

In the framework of consolidating Tunisian-Saudi brotherly relations and at the invitation of Mohamed Ali Nafti, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Tunisians Abroad, Prince Faisal Bin Farhan Bin Abdallah Al Saoud, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, made a working visit to Tunisia yesterday.

4th Meeting of the Tunisian-Saudi Follow-up and Political Consultation Committee

During this visit, the two ministers chaired the 4th Meeting of the Tunisian-Saudi Follow-up and Political Consultation Committee at the ministry's headquarters, in the presence of delegations from both countries. The meeting reviewed bilateral cooperation relations in all fields.

In his speech, the head of diplomacy emphasized the solidity and depth of Tunisian-Saudi relations, which can enable the achievement of the desired qualitative leap, in harmony with the directives of the leaders of the two countries and in response to the aspirations of the two brotherly peoples.

Nafti also confirmed Tunisia's firm willingness to further strengthen and expand cooperation areas and develop them in the interest of both countries, under the direction of President Kais Saied and the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman Bin Abdulaziz, and the Crown Prince, Chairman of the Council of Ministers, Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saoud.

Key Areas of Cooperation

Nafti stressed the importance of:

  • Preparing for the next session of the Tunisian-Saudi Joint Commission, which will be held before the end of this year
  • Accelerating the pace of ministerial, sectoral, and technical committee meetings
  • Establishing a mutually beneficial investment partnership between the two countries
  • Encouraging private sector economic actors to engage in joint investment projects in both countries
  • Strengthening commercial cooperation to increase trade volume and remove obstacles to facilitate the movement of goods and products between the two countries
  • Promoting tourism and joint cooperation in education, health, and transportation

Regional and International Issues

The discussions covered recent developments in the region, as well as key regional and international issues of common interest, particularly the Palestinian cause and the developments in the Gaza situation. Nafti emphasized the need to intensify bilateral consultation and coordination to contribute to finding solutions to crises in several brotherly countries, serving the security and stability of the Arab region.

Saudi Minister's Statement

For his part, the Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs praised the historical and close relations between the two countries and the two brotherly peoples. He called for further strengthening bilateral cooperation in all fields, noting the importance of existing potential and that with more coordination, more interesting results can be achieved.

He emphasized the importance of establishing a common vision to develop cooperation further in the next phase and following up on the implementation of existing development projects between the two countries, as well as strengthening partnerships in this field. He also stressed the importance of continuing consultations and coordination between the two countries at all levels and on issues of common interest, contributing to establishing security and stability in the region.

Memorandum of Understanding

On this occasion, the two ministers supervised the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the field of diplomatic training between the International Diplomatic Academy of Tunis and the Prince Saud Al-Faisal Institute for Diplomatic Studies in Saudi Arabia, aiming to establish cooperation in areas related to expertise exchange, training, and capacity building for diplomats from both countries.

In addition to strengthening cooperation in the fields of trade and investment, the two parties signed a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the field of diplomatic training between the International Diplomatic Academy of Tunis and the Prince Saud Al-Faisal Institute for Diplomatic Studies in Saudi Arabia. The two ministers agreed to deepen consultations on regional and international issues of common interest.
