Minister of Economy and Planning Receives AIMEC Executive Director

The Minister of Economy and Planning, Samir Abdelhafidh, received on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, the Executive Director of the African Center of Excellence for Inclusive Markets (AIMEC), Youssef Ahmed Al-Kardfani, accompanied by several of his colleagues.

Meeting Overview

The meeting provided an opportunity to review the progress of preparations for the installation of the AIMEC headquarters in Tunisia, as well as the work programs planned for the next period.

Strategic Importance of AIMEC Headquarters in Tunisia

Mr. Abdelhafidh welcomed the decision of the African Union, taken during its 33rd ordinary summit in Addis Ababa in February 2020, to grant Tunisia the hosting of the AIMEC headquarters. He highlighted the strategic importance of this establishment, which will strengthen cooperation and expertise-sharing prospects, particularly in research, innovation, vocational training, economic empowerment of young people and women, as well as support for the private sector.

Progress and Future Cooperation

For his part, Mr. Al-Kardfani expressed satisfaction with the progress made in setting up the official headquarters of the Center. He emphasized the interest of establishing AIMEC in Tunisia, which will offer better conditions for coordinating action programs and future cooperation frameworks, for the benefit of both Tunisia and other African countries.

Contribution to Economic Integration and Sustainable Development

He also recalled that this dynamic will contribute to strengthening economic integration between the member states of the African Union and supporting efforts towards inclusive and sustainable development across the continent.
