Congolese Minister Seeks to Strengthen Social Cooperation with Tunisia

The Deputy Minister of Social Affairs, in charge of Persons with Disabilities in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Irène Esambo Diata, expressed her country's willingness to strengthen cooperation with Tunisia in several social domains.

This was during a working session held on Thursday evening with the Tunisian Minister of Family, Women, Children, and the Elderly, Asma Jabri, at the headquarters of the Centre for Research, Studies, Documentation, and Information on Women (CREDIF).

During the meeting, which was attended by the Ambassador of the DRC to Tunisia, the Congolese minister praised Tunisia's experience in the social domain and the coherence of its public policies. She emphasized her country's interest in benefiting from Tunisia's expertise, particularly in the areas of:

  • Economic and social inclusion of people with disabilities
  • Development of digital services for children
  • Child protection
  • Integration of children with autism spectrum disorders

The meeting also focused on the need to adapt care facilities and shelters to meet the needs of people with disabilities.

On this occasion, the Congolese delegation was briefed on the missions of the Ministry of Family, Women, Children, and the Elderly, its subordinate institutions, and its strategic orientations. These include:

  • Developing policies and implementing programs
  • Encouraging investment in services for families
  • Strengthening mechanisms for economic and social integration
  • Developing early childhood development
  • Providing care and protection for vulnerable categories, in parallel with the development of digital services for children.

This meeting aims to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the social domain and to benefit from Tunisia's expertise in various areas.
