Tunis Municipality Holds Strategic Meeting to Optimize Services and Infrastructure
A strategic working session was held yesterday at the Tunis municipality headquarters, chaired by Samah Daldoul, the municipality's management director. The meeting focused on monitoring ongoing projects, lifting administrative and technical blockages, and strengthening coordination among various stakeholders. The goal is clear: to optimize services provided to citizens without delay.
Rehabilitation of Casbah Square and Urban Mobility
At the heart of the discussions was the examination of a project to rehabilitate the iconic Casbah Square. On this occasion, Samah Daldoul presented a candid assessment, highlighting that most of the municipality's infrastructure and buildings, including some arrondissement offices and community children's gardens, require deep renovation and modernization to become fully functional.
The urban mobility aspect also took center stage during the debates. To alleviate the congestion in the 9-April area, the municipal agency for management has officially confirmed the construction of a new municipal parking lot. In parallel, the meeting attendees discussed the grand road project in the capital. Although the tender for selecting construction companies has already been launched, the start of work is scheduled for July 2026, with a total budget of 330,000 dinars.
Quality of Life and Environment
The municipality reaffirmed its commitment to continuing campaigns for tree pruning and maintenance of green spaces through various subcontracting contracts. Concrete measures were proposed to beautify the urban landscape, including the installation of suspended trash cans on Bab Bnet Avenue, the replacement of worn-out containers, and the valorization of the Souleimaniya cultural center and the historic Tourbet El Bey circuit.
Security and Attractiveness
Finally, the security and nighttime attractiveness of the city were the subject of precise budgetary arbitrations. Preparations are accelerating for the imminent launch of a comprehensive renovation of the public lighting network, an operation estimated at 200,000 dinars. Special attention will be paid to the Medina tourist circuit, particularly the Naoura impasse, to restore these historic routes to their former glory.
