Tunisia Hosts International Judo Open in Tunis

Tunisia welcomed the International Judo Open of Tunis from February 13 to 15, 2026, a competition that brought together several age categories, from minors to seniors. This event confirmed the country's position as a reference sports destination for judo at the international level.

High-Level Technical Competition

The event was marked by a high technical level, with the participation of around 490 judokas, men and women, representing over 34 countries from different continents. This strong attendance led to intense confrontations between several major world judo schools.

Outstanding Performance by Tunisian Teams

The Tunisian national teams achieved remarkable performances across all categories. In the minors category, Tunisia took first place in the overall ranking, a result that reflects the quality of the training work and the constant development of national judo.

Medal Count

In this category, young Tunisian athletes won a total of 27 medals: 5 gold, 7 silver, and 15 bronze. The titles were won by:

  • Yassine Saïem (–50 kg)
  • Mohamed Ilyes Arfaoui (–73 kg)
  • Abir Belhaj (–40 kg)
  • Ranim Ben Slimane (–70 kg)
  • Roua Ben Salem (–57 kg)

Junior and Senior Categories

In the junior category, Tunisian judokas confirmed their good dynamics by collecting 13 medals, including two titles won by Nargès Haddaï (–48 kg) and Zeineb Trabelsi (+78 kg), in addition to two silver and nine bronze medals.

In the senior category, the national team also signed a top-notch performance by finishing second in the overall ranking behind Belarus. The Tunisians obtained 11 medals in total, including four gold medals. The champions are:

  • Oumaïma Bédoui (–48 kg)
  • Siwar Dhaouadi (+78 kg)
  • Alaeddine Ben Chelbi (–73 kg)
  • Kossay Ben Ghares (–100 kg)
