Tunis Designated as "Arab Tourism Capital 2027"
Tunis aims to leverage this distinction as a strategic lever for regional and international promotion. Through a visual identity carried by the creativity of Tunisian youth, the authorities are betting on a modern, sustainable, and innovative tourism model capable of valorizing heritage, attracting investments, and strengthening the attractiveness of the Tunisian destination.
The Press — "Tunis, Arab Tourism Capital" is a distinction with strong symbolic and economic impact. In this context, the announcement of the results of the national competition dedicated to the design of the logo and visual identity of the program marks a key step in the structuring of a global strategy aimed at strengthening the country's attractiveness and modernizing its image. This event was organized by the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. Its objective is to forge a visual identity capable of embodying a contemporary and innovative Tunisia.
This recognition opens up concrete perspectives in terms of international promotion, investment attraction, and diversification of the tourist offer. It also constitutes an opportunity to consolidate a development model based on upgrading, sustainability, and innovation. The ambition is to make Tunis a regional showcase integrating heritage, culture, high-end tourism, digitalization of services, and improvement of infrastructure, while valuing the country's natural and historical wealth.
In his speech, Sofiane Tekaya, Minister of Tourism, mentioned that this image is particularly based on creativity, renewal, confidence in youth, and the ambition to strengthen our Arab and international influence.
In this dynamic, the choice of Tunis as Arab Tourism Capital for 2027 is not a coincidence or a simple symbolic distinction. It is part of a continuous work and structured development path, reflecting recognition of Tunisia's place on the civilizational, cultural, and tourist levels, as well as its positioning as an Arab and international destination combining history, modernity, and openness.
The Minister added that during the past year, the Tunisian destination has confirmed its resilience and ability to record continuous positive results. This has been reflected in an increase in the number of visitors, diversification of emitting markets, improvement of tourist investment attractiveness, and strengthening of Tunisia's image at the international level. Furthermore, our country has consolidated its position as a safe and attractive destination, offering quality of service, rich heritage, and diversity of experiences.
In this continuity, the "Tunis, Arab Tourism Capital 2027" program is not a one-off event, but a structuring and durable national project. It aims to propose a modern and renewed image of Tunisia, to valorize the civilizational, cultural, architectural, and human richness of its capital, and to dynamize the entire country's destinations in a logic of participation and openness.
Thus conceived, this program is based on an ambitious participatory approach. It aspires to make the capital a living and integrated experience, where history and modernity, tourism and culture, sport and arts meet, in order to position Tunis as a hub of Arab tourism. In this perspective, we are convinced that the image of Tunisia must be shaped by its own children, and that Tunisian youth is fully capable of transforming its creativity into a force of proposal and influence.
In this regard, it is worth recalling that Tunisian higher education has reached an advanced level of development, thanks to the scientific skills, teachers, and high-level academic expertise of our universities. In this context, the Tunisian state considers youth as its main wealth, and investment in their skills as a direct investment in the future.
"Today, by announcing the final results, we are not only proclaiming laureates: we are revealing a visual identity that will accompany the Tunisian destination in 2027. The adoption of the winning project is an important step, testifying to the ability of youth to innovate and contribute to national development.
In the same vein, the Minister of Tourism reaffirms his commitment to supporting youth and strengthening their involvement in major national projects. "Tunisia is working today to strengthen its international presence and promote a modern, diversified, and sustainable tourism model. Thanks to the will of its citizens and the mobilization of its institutions, it will make 2027 an exceptional year," he concluded.
