US President Donald Trump Says an Insider Could Be the Best Candidate to Lead Iran
American President Donald Trump declared on Tuesday that a figure coming from within Iran might be the most suitable person to head the country.
Speaking at a meeting in the White House with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Trump stated:
“I think someone from inside Iran could be the most appropriate candidate.”
Trump said he is open to cooperating with whatever remains of the current Iranian regime, noting that new leaders are emerging in the nation.
“Many want to get to power, and some could be very competent,” he added.
He also acknowledged that the United States had made mistakes in Iraq, while hinting that the son of Iran’s former Shah could represent an alternative for governing the country.
“It’s not too late to consider working with a new Iranian leadership,” he concluded.
In related developments, the United States and Israel launched strikes last Saturday against targets in Iran, including locations in the capital Tehran.
