US President Donald Trump Signs Decree Allowing TikTok to Continue Operating in the US
US President Donald Trump has signed a decree authorizing the TikTok platform to continue operating in the United States, as part of a legal settlement that meets American national security requirements.
According to the American channel CNBC, the agreement provides that an investment group - including software company Oracle, as well as Silver Lake and MGX funds - will acquire a joint 45% stake in the "TikTok America" application.
US Vice President J.D. Vance stated that the transaction value amounts to $14 billion, emphasizing that the new arrangements meet the requirements of the US national security law. This law required ByteDance (TikTok's Chinese parent company) to sell TikTok's operations in America or face a de facto ban in the country.
Under the agreement, Oracle will be responsible for overseeing the security of US users' data and providing cloud computing services, under the direct supervision of its CEO, Larry Ellison.
In the same context, White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt confirmed that the agreement ensures that TikTok's ownership will be majority-held by American companies, and that the application's recommendation algorithm will remain under the supervision of competent US authorities.
