US President Donald Trump Announces Plan to Provide Direct Aid to American Citizens
US President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that his administration is considering providing direct aid of at least $2,000 to each American citizen, funded by revenue generated from tariffs. In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump specified that this amount would be allocated "to each individual, except high-income taxpayers," stating that "everyone will benefit from it." Presenting this initiative as a result of the current strength of the US economy, the President stated: "We are today the richest and most respected country in the world, with almost zero inflation and financial markets at record levels." However, this project requires Congressional approval. Republican Senator Josh Hawley, representing the state of Missouri, had already introduced a similar bill this summer aiming to provide a $600 bonus to most Americans and their dependents, also funded by tariff revenue. Trump also claimed that revenue from tariffs is helping to reduce the national debt. "We are generating trillions of dollars and we will soon start paying off our massive debt," he added. The President also highlighted the record level of investments in the US, citing "the rapid growth of new factories and industrial infrastructure across the country." According to the latest data from the Treasury Department, released in September, tariff revenue reached $195 billion in the first three quarters of the year.
