US President Donald Trump Signs Executive Order Postponing TikTok Sale
US President Donald Trump signed an executive order today, Tuesday, postponing until December 16 the enforcement of a 2024 law that required the divestment of Chinese ownership of the TikTok app. This extension grants Chinese company ByteDance an additional 90 days to finalize an agreement to transfer the short-video app's assets in the US to American owners. Earlier in the day, Trump revealed the existence of an agreement between Washington and Beijing that would allow the app to continue operating in the US. Three sources close to the matter stated that this agreement is similar to one that was discussed earlier this year. "We have a deal regarding TikTok... A group of big companies wants to buy it," Trump said today, without providing details about the agreement.
