Tunisia's Trade Balance Surplus Reaches 963.5 Million Dinars as of April 2026
Tunisia's Trade Balance Sees Significant Increase
As of April 2026, Tunisia's trade balance surplus has reached 963.5 million dinars, a significant increase of 51.9% compared to the same period in 2025, which saw a surplus of 634.5 million dinars. This improvement in the trade balance has led to a notable increase in the coverage rate of imports by exports, reaching 134.6%.
Strong Export Growth Drives Trade Balance Increase
According to data published by the National Observatory of Agriculture (ONAGRI) on Monday, the increase in the trade balance surplus can be attributed to a stronger growth rate in exports compared to imports. Tunisia's exports have seen a significant increase of 25.4%, rising from 3 billion dinars in the first four months of 2025 to 3.7 billion dinars as of April 2026.
Import Growth Remains Moderate
On the other hand, imports have seen a moderate increase of 18.3%, with their value reaching 2.7 billion dinars compared to 2.3 billion dinars in the same period last year.
This improvement in Tunisia's trade balance is a positive sign for the country's economy, indicating a strengthening of its export sector and a more balanced trade relationship.
