Winter Tourist Season in Tozeur Governorate Kicks Off with Positive Indicators
The winter tourist season in the Tozeur governorate has begun in recent days with a set of positive indicators. The most notable is the reopening of a hotel in the city of Tamaghza, which had been closed for many years, in addition to preparations for the reopening of a 4-star hotel in the city of Tozeur in the coming weeks, according to Regional Tourism Commissioner Adel Sbïta.
The official added, in a statement to the "TAP" agency, that preparations for the winter season have been underway intensively since the beginning of summer, thanks to the combined efforts of various stakeholders. In addition to the reopening of the two aforementioned tourist units, the Tozeur Desert Tourist Resort has been officially acquired by the international company "TUI", which will allow for the attraction of more tourists from Europe and elsewhere. The company is expected to take over the management of the complex at the beginning of next November.
The tourist offer in the region will also be strengthened by tourist residences and rural lodges within the oases, whose legal files are currently being finalized. This is in addition to a set of events being prepared to be organized before the end of the year, including the second edition of the International Oasis and Desert Tourism Fair from December 2 to 4. This is a promotional event that contributes to the conclusion of partnerships between Tunisian and foreign professionals, particularly in the field of Saharan tourism.
It is expected that the region will record good quantitative indicators in terms of the number of tourists and nights by the end of the current year and the beginning of next year, given the current reservations in tourist hotels. This will contribute to achieving the national objectives, namely receiving 11 million tourists by the end of the year.
