Three Injured in Train Station Collapse During Breast Cancer Awareness Event
Three people, including a paramedical staff member from the National Family and Population Center (ONFP) and two citizens, were injured on Thursday when part of the entrance hall of the Tozeur train station collapsed. The incident occurred during the "Train Rose" medical and awareness event, which is dedicated to early detection of breast cancer.
Incident Details
According to a statement released by the ONFP in the evening, the accident was "totally independent of the organization" of the event. Regional and local authorities immediately intervened to rescue the injured, provide them with first aid on the spot, and then transfer them to the Tozeur Regional Hospital.
Medical Care and Prognosis
The same source reported that the victims received complete medical and psychological care. The paramedical staff member and one of the citizens were discharged from the hospital in good health less than an hour after admission. The third injured person underwent surgery in the evening and is expected to be discharged from the hospital tomorrow, with their condition having improved significantly.
Event Continues as Scheduled
The ONFP reassured that the activities planned as part of the "Train Rose" event would continue normally, emphasizing that the unfortunate incident did not disrupt the screening and awareness campaigns. The medical teams continued their work at the Tozeur train station before moving to Degache, where the activities took place under good conditions.
