Positive Outcome of Tunisia's Participation in the Osaka Universal Exhibition in Japan
The positive outcome of Tunisia's participation in the Osaka Universal Exhibition in Japan, which took place from April 13 to October 18, 2025, is beginning to bear fruit. This is evident from the statement made by Mr. Mourad Ben Hassine, CEO of the Export Promotion Center (CEPEX).
Indeed, speaking on Jawhara FM on Wednesday, February 11, he specified that the event attracted over 630,000 Japanese visitors. He highlighted that the Tunisian pavilion was a huge success, offering visual presentations, a commercial space, and a restaurant, all aimed at promoting Tunisian culture and craftsmanship.
Mr. Ben Hassine affirmed that the objective of the Osaka exhibition was to build partnership bridges between actors from various sectors in both countries.
In the same vein, Nacef Belkhiria, president of the Tunisian-Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCITJ), noted that while exchanges with Japan were previously timid, this relationship is now developing rapidly. This is evident in various fields such as the automotive component industry, electronics, and biotechnology.
He explained that Japan is a strategic economic ally that Tunisia should focus on to diversify its market, which is currently dependent on Europe. This, he added, will enable the Tunisian economy to compete with other countries such as Morocco, Egypt, and Turkey.
Moreover, Mr. Belkhiria emphasized the need to harmonize the tax regimes of both countries through a single convention. "We need to unify the taxes applied in both countries through a global partnership agreement and boost bilateral economic relations," he suggested.
