Health, Women, Family, Social Affairs and People with Disabilities Committee Holds Hearing on Legislative Initiatives

The Health, Women, Family, Social Affairs and People with Disabilities Committee of the People's Representatives Assembly (ARP) held a hearing on Tuesday, dedicated to the authors of two legislative initiatives. These initiatives concern the protection, care, and inclusion of people with disabilities, as well as the revision of the 2005 Orientation Law No. 83 on the promotion and protection of people with disabilities.

Unification of Texts and Legislative Effectiveness

According to an ARP statement, committee members proposed reflecting on the development of a "Code of Rights for People with Disabilities". This compilation would bring together all existing laws to reduce legislative inflation and remedy the scattering of texts. The deputies recommended merging the two initiatives into a single project, given the convergence of their objectives. Some even suggested integrating a third initiative on the adoption of sign language for the deaf. The idea is to create a single text, while referring technical modalities to regulatory texts (decrees) in coordination with the executive power, an approach considered logical by the project leaders.
