To Attract More Chinese Visitors, the Tunisian National Tourism Office in Beijing Participates in the Guangzhou International Tourism Fair and the China International Service Trade Fair
These efforts come as the number of Chinese tourists in Tunisia has increased by 15.3% between January and July 2025 compared to the same period in 2024, where the country hosted nearly 24,000 tourists. The Ministry of Tourism, which oversees the Office, is strengthening its presence in Asian markets, particularly in China, by combining digital promotion, professional actions, and economic and cultural diplomacy. The goal is to increase Tunisia's visibility and establish new partnerships with major Chinese and international travel agencies.
In July 2025, the number of Chinese tourists increased by 30.9% compared to the previous year, despite the absence of direct flights. The Guangzhou Fair was an essential platform for promoting Tunisia as a destination offering a mix of culture, nature, and alternative activities. The Office's bureau organized professional meetings with major Chinese tour operators and airlines. These discussions focused on future promotional campaigns and new collaborations. Interviews with Chinese media were also conducted to highlight the richness of Tunisia's tourist offer and investment opportunities in hospitality, cultural tourism, and green tourism.
The international cooperation platform of the Global Tourism Cities Alliance Forum reserved a special section for the city of Tozeur, alongside other world-renowned tourist cities. Advertisements were broadcast to showcase the beauty of Tunisia and the diversity of its tourist and cultural offer. Particular emphasis was placed on the International Hot Air Balloon Festival, which will take place in Douz, Tozeur, and Djerba from October 24 to November 1, 2025.
The congress on global tourism development and cooperation, held as part of the 2025 fair, brought together over 600 participants from 66 countries, including government officials and international experts. Organized under the theme "Digital and Intelligent Tourism for a Common Future," the event was an opportunity to present Tunisia as a destination combining cultural heritage, digital innovation, and sustainable tourism.
