The Press — At 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, the starting pistol will fire, marking the beginning of the 38th edition of the Comar Marathon. This competition will conclude a vast and rich animation that has energized the entire city center. What does this 38th edition look like? We thought that the best person to present this international event would be Lotfi Ben Haj Kacem, President of the Comar Marathon Organizing Committee.

"The Comar Marathon is a celebration of sports, commitment, and civic spirit. I am addressing all participants, partners, and volunteer collaborators of Comar and Hayett, who give this event its magnitude and uniqueness. Since its creation, the Comar Marathon has established itself as one of the most anticipated sporting events in the country. More than just a competition, it embodies the energy, solidarity, and resilience that characterize our community. Each edition brings together thousands of women and men of all ages and backgrounds, united by the same passion for running, self-improvement, and healthy living. This year, once again, we wanted to make this event a celebration of sports accessible to all. Elite runners, amateurs, families, children, and associations: everyone finds a space to live a unique experience here. The marathon is not just a timed event, it's a moment of sharing and inspiration. We are also happy to welcome foreign participants from over 50 countries, who enrich the event and strengthen its international influence. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all those who make this marathon possible, the authorities, our institutional and private partners, the technical and logistical teams, the volunteers who work behind the scenes, and the media and their role. The Comar Marathon continues to write its history."

High-Level Performance

We consider that this marathon, which is part of the international calendar, also needs athletic performances. It is therefore interesting to highlight this aspect, as Tunisian athletics needs a boost in this specialty. The organizer is doing everything possible to improve this marathon. The Tunisian Athletics Federation, which is a stakeholder in this event, since it is its national championship in this specialty, must support it. All the more so since times are improving everywhere. For example, the 2025 Berlin Marathon was won by Kenyan Sabastian Sawe in 2:02:16, which is also the best world performance of the year. The 2025 Paris Marathon was won by Kenyan Benard Biwott in 2:05:25, and Ethiopian Bedatu Hirpa won the women's category in 2:20:45. The 2025 Rome Marathon was won by Kenyan Robert Ngeno in 2:07:35. There is therefore work to be done if we hope to do as well as these road monsters.

The International Tunis-Carthage Comar Marathon (42.195 km), the Half-Marathon (21.1 km), and the Race for All over 5 km, which is aimed at beginners and families, as well as the Kids Marathon for young people aged 7 to 14, are on the program. The number of participants is constantly increasing. The International Tunis-Carthage Comar Marathon could aim to mobilize many more than this already significant number.
