US User Data on TikTok to be Stored on Oracle Platform, Says White House Official
An agreement in principle between the US and China regarding TikTok provides that all data from American users of the Chinese video application will be stored on a "cloud" platform managed by the American group Oracle, a high-ranking White House official stated on Saturday. The algorithm for the US version of TikTok will be secured, reformulated, and operated in the US, outside the control of the Chinese parent company of the application, ByteDance, the official added. ByteDance will hold less than 20% of the joint venture responsible for TikTok's activities in the US, the official said.
