The Tunisian Oscar 2026 candidate film, "The Voice Of Hind Rajab", recently awarded at the 82nd Venice Film Festival, has been selected as the opening film at the Doha Film Festival in Qatar and the closing film at the Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF) in Egypt, both taking place in November 2025.
The screenings in Doha and Cairo follow the film's recent triumph at the 82nd Venice Film Festival, where it won the prestigious Silver Lion - Grand Jury Prize, one of the most prestigious awards in the world, as stated in a press release published on the CIFF website on Wednesday.
Written and directed by Kaouther Ben Hania, "The Voice Of Hind Rajab" is a documentary fiction film that won the Silver Lion - Grand Jury Prize and six parallel awards at the 82nd Venice Film Festival, where it had its worldwide premiere.
After Venice, the film has also been selected for other festivals this autumn, including the Toronto Film Festival, the San Sebastian Film Festival, and the London Film Festival.
National Release of "The Voice Of Hind Rajab" on September 17
After its Tunisian premiere on September 10, "The Voice Of Hind Rajab" will be released in several Tunisian theaters starting today, September 17.
It is worth noting that the premiere took place at the Colisée Cinema in Tunis on the day of the departure of the Global Soumoud Flotilla from the Port of Sidi BouSaïd in Tunis to Gaza, in the presence of a large number of Tunisians. The departure of the flotilla, which was widely covered in the media, was finally postponed to September 12.
The film's African premiere will take place on November 21 at the Cairo International Film Festival, which will run from November 12 to 21, 2025. The Cairo International Film Festival is the oldest film festival in the Arab world, Africa, and the Middle East, and it has international recognition.
The release of this film, which tells the story of a six-year-old girl killed in Gaza in 2024, coincides with a period of strong international mobilization in solidarity with the besieged Gaza Strip. The announcement of its selection in Doha and Cairo was made on the websites of these two prestigious festivals of Arab international scope, coinciding with its national release.

The Doha Film Institute (DFI) announced on Tuesday that the Doha Film Festival 2025 (November 20-28) will open with "The Voice of Hind Rajab" by award-winning director Kaouther Ben Hania, marking a powerful start to attract Qatar's attention to world cinema.
"A recipient of the Institute's grant program, this profound film captures the final moments of an innocent child, Hind Rajab, whose voice has shaken the world's conscience. Hind's story is not just one of unimaginable loss, it is a testament to courage, a reminder of the human cost of silence, and a call to compassion that transcends borders," the Qatari Institute emphasized.
It is worth noting that this Tunisian-French co-production by Tanit Films, Film4 Productions, and Film Four received a grant from the Fund for Encouraging Literary and Artistic Creation at the Tunisian Ministry of Cultural Affairs.
