Tunisian Solidarity Bank Takes New Measures to Support Small Cereal Farmers for the 2025-2026 Season

The Tunisian Solidarity Bank has introduced new measures to support small cereal farmers for the 2025-2026 season, approving financing for approximately 450 files with a total loan amount of around 6.5 million dinars (MD).

Key Measures

According to the bank, the main measures include:

  • Increasing the budget allocated to the sector from 24 MD to 30 MD, with 5 MD to be managed by private cooperatives.
  • Raising the ceiling for seasonal loans granted by the bank from 60,000 to 100,000 dinars, without material guarantees or self-financing.
  • Increasing the loan ceiling granted by microcredit associations from 5,000 to 10,000 dinars.

Additional Initiatives

The Tunisian Solidarity Bank has also decided to:

  • Remove the maximum age condition (previously set at 65 years).
  • Sign new agreements with five private cooperatives in governorates where the bank is not present.
  • Open up financing in other governorates, with a focus on the irrigation sector.

Approval of Loans

During the same day, the bank held its first internal loan approval session at its central headquarters, validating the financing of approximately 450 files for a total amount of around 6.5 MD. This move is expected to provide significant support to small cereal farmers in the country.
