Tunisian Court Postpones Trial of Businessman Ridha Charfeddine
The specialized criminal chamber for financial corruption cases at the Tunis Court of Appeal decided yesterday, Friday, to postpone the trial of businessman Ridha Charfeddine to October 10th. The case in question concerns the "acquisition of assets abroad without the knowledge or authorization of the Central Bank of Tunisia".
The criminal chamber of the Tunis Court of First Instance had already found businessman Ridha Charfeddine guilty of the charges brought against him and sentenced him to three years in prison and a fine.
It is worth noting that Ridha Charfeddine has also been the subject of investigations, along with several politicians and businessmen, in the highly publicized case of "plot against state security". In this case, the specialized criminal chamber for terrorism cases at the Tunis Court of First Instance sentenced him to 16 years in prison for crimes related to "membership in a terrorist organization linked to terrorist crimes".
